Greens Meetup 5/19/09

At the meeting the following items were discussed:

1. A representative from the Rainforest Action Network visited the meeting and asked our organization to partner in turning out folks for a series of rallies aimed at shutting down Chicago's coal plants.

2. We identified the following Canvassing dates for continued efforts toward getting our referenda questions on the ballot:

Saturday, May 30th (Location TBD)
Saturday, June 13th (Location TBD)
Saturday, June 20th (Meet at 2445 N. Albany at 1:30pm and leave by 2:00pm)

Check the calendar for additional details within the week.

3. We identified several dates throughout the summer to request time at the Logan Square Farmers' Market Community Table. We are currently prioritizing dates during the candidate petitioning period in late summer. We will post specific dates after receiving feedback from the Logan Square Chamber of Commerce.

4. We identified the following parades in which the Logan Square Green Party and the Illinois Green Party need to have an organized presence:

June 16th- Puerto Rican Day Parade
June 28th- Chicago Gay Pride Parade
August 9th- Bud Billiken Parade

In addition we discussed the need for organizing statewide around the Illinois State Fair and significant local County Fairs across Chicagoland.
